Well Mistress went back to work today, so that was pretty bad start to my day to begin with, so l settled down to complete Battlefield 3 on the XBox 360, got a few chapters on from where l was last time l played. Must say l enjoyed driving and firing from the M60 Abrams tank, and the extensive sniper exercise in downtown wherever, however during the sniper exercise the Xbox 360 froze and the Red RIng of Death appeared.
Google is always your friend and l found a repair instruction site for $29 to DIY repair the XBox 360, better than paying $100 plus for a computer shop and better than losing the XBox 360 for couple of weeks whilst they repaired it. So after the instructions on the how to video and reading the how to manual, l got to the stage where my too kit let me down, l don’t have a 8 Torx screw driver, so the repair came to a halt on the kitchen table, with the XBox 360 95% disassembled, ready for the repair and reassemble process to start.
Tomorrow will drive to Morley Dick Smith shop and buy myself the repair list of 8 Torx screw driver, 16 x 10 # nylon washers, 16 x 5mm zinc washers, 8 x 10 mm zinc machine screws, tube of thermal paste and rubbing alcohol.
Hopefully it means the XBox 360 will be repaired and functioning by 11 tomorrow or no later than midday and l can complete the Battlefield 3 game, it also means we can watch the 2 terrabyte movie collection via the iMac via the XBox 360 and never have the Red Ring of Death ever again.
